Cigar Reviewed: CAO Gold

OK…this was an interesting smoke.

I was expecting a soft, light and airy mellow smoke based on a total misunderstanding of what ‘Connecticut’ I was smoking. This was a Medium profile smoke with more bite than I anticipated and a total relaxing woody flavor for a perfect afternoon.

I had some construction issues with the wrapper mid-way through (the band tore a section off) and by the end the cigar was literally falling apart. I’ve state many times before that I cannot blame construction issues on the cigar manufacturers. Why? Because I am an idiot and probably did something wrong with the storage, the prep or the cut (a punch gone awry). For example: I think I burrowed into the wrapper when I was trying to get the band off… and I may have chomped into the end while trying to untangle my dog’s leash.

However, I did experience unexpected flavor changes near the end. The stick was too far gone to save much longer but a vast array of subtle changes worked through my palate. It was a nice bonus.
